Diplomacy is a secondary skill in Heroes of Might and Magic IV. If the hero has a stronger army, the skill converts enemy army's creatures (neutral or belonging to a different faction) to the hero's ranks, by paying a sum of gold. Should the hero refuse, the creatures are not removed from the enemy army. It also reduces the cost of surrender.

Diplomacy is related to secondary skill Nobility.

Basic[]

Basic Diplomacy gives the hero the ability to convince 30% of greatly outnumbered hostile creatures to desert for a price. The hero can sway no more than 120 experience points of creatures, plus 10% per level of the hero. Also, the cost of surrendering is 80% of normal. It requires the hero to learn Basic Nobility.


Advanced[]

SkillAdvancedDiplomacyIV

Advanced Diplomacy gives the hero the ability to convince 40% of greatly outnumbered hostile creatures to desert for a price. The hero can sway no more than 240 experience points of creatures, plus 10% per level of the hero. Also, the cost of surrendering is 70% of normal. It requires the hero to learn Basic Nobility and Basic Diplomacy.


Expert[]

SkillExpertDiplomacyIV

Expert Diplomacy gives the hero the ability to convince 50% of greatly outnumbered hostile creatures to desert for a price. The hero can sway no more than 360 experience points of creatures, plus 10% per level of the hero. Also, the cost of surrendering is 60% of normal. It requires the hero to learn Advanced Nobility and Advanced Diplomacy.


Master[]

SkillMasterDiplomacyIV

Master Diplomacy gives the hero the ability to convince 60% of greatly outnumbered hostile creatures to desert for a price. The hero can sway no more than 480 experience points of creatures, plus 10% per level of the hero. Also, the cost of surrendering is 55% of normal. It requires the hero to learn Advanced Nobility and Expert Diplomacy.


Grandmaster[]

SkillGrandmasterDiplomacyIV

Grandmaster Diplomacy gives the hero the ability to convince 70% of greatly outnumbered hostile creatures to desert for a price. The hero can sway no more than 600 experience points of creatures, plus 10% per level of the hero. Also, the cost of surrendering is 50% of normal. It requires the hero to learn Expert Nobility and Master Diplomacy.

This is the final level of Diplomacy skill, and does not unlock any additional skills. The hero can instead develop the Nobility skill, if needed.

Bonuses[]

Diplomacy has related artifact that also increase potency, by having necklace artifact statesman's medal equipped.
