The Sawmill in Heroes I
The Sawmill is a mine in the Heroes of Might and Magic games that gives the kingdom wood each day. The hero gains two pieces of wood each day they control the mine. Sawmills are a complete necessity in every game, as wood is one of the most used resources, along with ore.
In the later Heroes games (Heroes of Might and Magic III onwards), the hero can place creatures in mines to defend their resource-producing buildings.
