Elwin is an Elven Druid, and the main character of the Elwin and Shaera campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic IV.

In his quest to save his beloved Shaera from the clutches of Lord Harke, who has bewitched her to gain her love, he starts a civil war amongst the elves.

Background

Elwin is more interested in the grandeur of court life than the peaceful solitude of the forests. He lives in the moment. If not for his charming personality, the Elven Court would probably ignore this tall, gangly elf. But Elwin is one who can never be ignored.^OffBck

Elwin was trained in the druidic arts by Menathat, a member of the Council of Elders. Despite his position, Elwin was infamous in the elven court for his love of fancy outfits and his reputation as a scamp and charmer. He fell in love with Shaera, at the disapproval of her father Gramin. While on a naval excursion, Elwin put the watchman to sleep so he could sneak off with Shaera in the middle of the night and show her the constellations. This resulted in the boat being attacked by pirates and wrecked, scattering the crew and leaving Elwin and Shaera stranded. Elwin was forced to put his druid training to use for survival, befriending forest animals while bonding with Shaera, eventually rendezvousing with Gramin in the port town of Dolphin Jump.

After they returned to Aranorn, Lord Harke noticed that Shaera had fallen for Elwin, and decided to kill Elwin to take Shaera's affection for himself. Elwin was assigned to make an alliance with the white tigers, a suicide mission that had already claimed the lives of the last three druids to attempt it. Against all odds, Elwin earned the trust of the white tigers by slaying the necromancer Worllarc. Harke then sent Elwin on a quest to retrieve the Bow of the Elf King, but this was a ruse to assassinate him. His would-be assassin, Mirilass, showed mercy and instead left Elwin in a secluded glade. Elwin escaped, and, learning that Shaera had been put under a spell and was being forced to marry Harke, forged an artifact called the Mirror of True Love to free her.

Elwin successfully saved Shaera and proved Harke's lies, earning him the support of the Council of Elders and the title of Elf King. However, most of the population still trusted Harke, sparking the Aranorn Civil War. Thanks to help from the white tigers and Gramin, Elwin was able to defeat Harke, end the war, and marry Shaera.
