Dyson Leland is a character in Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer. He is a Cleric hireling, and is needed for the Destroy the skeleton transformer and Bring the Nightshade Brazier to Sandro quests.
Background[]
Though a cleric schooled in the ways of the Sun Temple, his time in the Necromancers' Guild as a secret agent has left him with a dark nature. Though still on the Path of Light, he feels betrayed by his former order.OffBck
Dyson grew up dreaming about joining the Temple of the Sun, to act in the service of good. However, when he joined the temple, he saw nothing but greedy, self-indulgent priests hiding their crimes behind a screen of sanctity. "If there is goodness in the world, I have not seen it," he later commented.
Dyson was asked by the high priest Oskar Tyre to disguise himself as a Necromancer and act as a spy in the Necromancers' Guild. However, the Necromancers saw through his disguise, and forced him to act on their behalf against the temple. Dyson saw the loathsome corruption of the Necromancers, and grew to hate both sides of the conflict equally.
The Hero of Jadame approached the Temple of the Sun and the Necromancers' Guild, trying to get them to join the Alliance of Jadame. Both of them sent the hero to Dyson to get his help in completing a mission - the temple wanted the hero to disable the guild's skeleton transformer, while the guild wanted the hero to retrieve the Nightshade Brazier. When the hero approached Dyson, he was pleased at the opportunity to get revenge on his enemies, but regretted that he couldn't complete both missions - completing one would make the other impossible. Since he hated the temple and the guild equally, he couldn't choose which target to strike, so he asked the hero to make the choice. Either way, he was ready to follow.

Dyson Leland can be hired in the Necromancers' Guild in Shadowspire once the party has received either the Destroy the skeleton transformer or Bring the Nightshade Brazier to Sandro quest, both of which he is needed to complete (and if the party completes either, they can't complete the other). He is a 15-level Cleric.
