Dunstan

Dunstan is a character featured in Might & Magic X: Legacy.

Biography[]

Dunstan was a raider along with Shiva and two others, until he and his friends (except Shiva) were killed in the Tomb of a Thousand Terrors. An evil faceless named Erebos took his appearance and started to manipulate people. Being the selfish and helpful person, who "Dunstan" is he offers to help the new arrivals with a “free” tour around Sorpigal. Knowing things and being at the right time at the right place is kind of his deal, especially if the marks are four inexperienced raiders. He also helps Markus to rule Karthal.

Gameplay[]

His service is (nearly) free of charge, he will show you around Sorpigal right up to the doorstep of the Garrison. He is parting from the group after that, but you recon that won’t be the last of him you saw. Hireling (npcID="14")

You see him again after entering Karthal and learning that Falagar has been arrested, where he tells you that the gates of the city are now open and under Markus' control.

Later, after you spring Falagar, Morgan tells you to find information on Dunstan; this leads you to Shiva, the only survivor of his former party of Raiders. She tells you how he has "changed" since their exploation of the "Tomb", and suggests you look there.

The truth about what happened to Dunstan becomes obvious after an Eye of Terror is defeated in the fourth level of the Tomb. The players find his dead body, along with a Dream Shard and a hastly written journal explaining what happened to him, right before he died, warning that the "Dunstan" you've met is a demonic imposter.

The players can use the Dream Shard with the help of the dark elf on the fifth level to enter Dunstan's memory and see a detailed version of his exploration of the Tomb, a dangerous and potentially lethal experience. (They can choose to do so whenever they want, but can only do so once.)
