"I am Freyda, Countess of the Unicorn Duchy and Lord High Constable of the Queen's armies. And you are about to lose your life, or at the very least your tongue."
—Freyda, to Duncan
Duncan is the third scenario in the Freyda's Dilemma campaign of Hammers of Fate.
Walkthrough[]
Freyda, Laszlo and Alaric come to a speaking device. Freyda complains about Alaric's actions against the peasants, but Isabel tells her that Godric is in prison and if she revolts more, he'll be tortured, so Freyda's hands are bound - she needs to obey her Queen.
Freyda has to capture the Stag Duchy's towns, as well as defeat their Duke, Duncan. There are 4 towns, Sheller, Greystone, Forkriver and the last one, Hornecrest, which is protected by powerful garrisons. In addition, the rebel troops will stand guard on the map, and the rebel troops will take mines (after some days) if Freyda captures them.
Still, if Freyda goes to underground, she can find a garrison with less troops than ones above. So, Freyda can pass it and finally attack Duncan. Before the siege, a Knight will go north, who carries Andrei. Duncan will have a lot of troops, so some time needs to pass for Freyda to recruit the troops.
After the siege, Duncan taunts Alaric, who is mad and wants to kill him. Freyda proposes not to, as it might rally the rebels to attack. Alaric and Laszlo leave to contact the Queen. Duncan is glad Freyda is not as vicious as the other two. Freyda orders her captain to get a caravan to transport Duncan to Talonguard, where he will be questioned. Duncan sees mercy and proposes Freyda to join the rebels. Freyda cannot, as Godric is captured, and that act would anger the Queen herself.
Towns[]
Haven: Sheller, Greystone, Forkriver, Horncrest
Events[]
- Queen Isabel has captured Godric.
- Freyda captures Duncan.
- Andrei is taken to Tor-Hrall.
Strategy[]
Freyda has to quickly capture the towns and the mines, so the enemy has less chance to attack. Also, the towns have to be developed early for the enemy heroes to be disallowed to attack.
Trivia[]
- There is an unused cutscene in which Freyda has a dream in which it is revealed Isabel is actually Biara in disguise, who controlls everyone to create havoc in the empire. Furthermore, she contacts Kha-Beleth, who was believed dead. Kha-Beleth orders her to defeat each and every faction, for his son has been born and could complete his quest of setting demons to Ashan free, but he must face no resistance. Biara accepts his master's quest, while Freyda is woken up by Alaric, who tells her the queen would want to speak to her.
- Also, Kha-Beleth mentions the "plains nomads" and the "watersnakes", referencing the orcs and naga.
