The dire wolf den is located at the base of a bluff in the western Ravenshore region, north of the road to Garrote Gorge. It must be explored to complete the quest to Find the Bone of Doom and to partially complete the quest to Kill all Dire Wolves in Ravenshore.

Chests in this dungeon require Level 4 Expert Disarm Trap to open safely.

The following numbered areas correspond to the numbers on the map.

1. Entrance[]

The party enters the den through a short but winding passageway possibly populated with a few Dire wolf yearlings, and/or Dire wolves.

2. Kidney-Shaped Room[]

This room is empty except for a few more Dire wolf yearlings, and/or Dire wolves. On the other side of the narrow area (i.e. in the opposite lobe of the kidney), two winding passages branch off, one to the left and one to the right.

3. Left Passage[]

The left passage ends in a room that is being used as a barracks for some Ratmen, Wererats, and Greater wererats, who will attack, along with Dire wolf yearlings, Dire wolves, and a Pack leader as soon as the party enters. Several cots are lined up against the far wall.

4. Treasure Chest[]

In the back of the barracks room is a trapped treasure chest. Inside the chest are some rudimentary weapons and/or armor, reagents and/or potions, gold, and the Bone of Doom.

5. Right Passage[]

The right passage leads first to a large empty room, occupied by several Dire wolf yearlings, Dire wolves, and one or two Pack leaders. Another passage continues out of this room from the same wall where the party entered.

6. Cage Room[]

Continuing on out of the large room at 5, the party will be attacked by some Ratmen, who have caged two Pack leaders in a cage that is visible in the room beyond. As soon as the party crosses the threshold into the cage room, the cage will open, freeing the wolves, who will attack as soon as they are free. There is nothing else in the room.
