The Dark Dwarf Compound is located in the Alvar region, just west of the town of Alvar. It must be explored to partially complete the Minotaur promotion quest.
Chests in this dungeon require Level 7 Master Disarm Trap to open safely.
The following numbered areas correspond to the numbers on the map.
1. Entrance[]
This narrow, twisting passageway is the entrance to the dark dwarves' hidden compound
2. Mine Area[]
Seam mining has produced this maze-like system of rooms and passages, many of them dead-end, which also provides an excellent security system for the dwarves. Boulders stand guard at irregular intervals throughout and also over storage chests in some of the rooms. These trapped treasure chests contain some low to mid-grade items and gold. The chest at (A) also contains the Axe of Balthazar.
3. Guard Room[]
Behind the wooden door is the compound itself. This guard room houses a pool and two to four Dark dwarf grunts, Dark dwarf pounders, and/or Dark dwarf berserkers. More can be found in the room directly back from this guard room.
4. Barracks[]
This is the bunk area for the grunts. The bunks stand against both walls and in the rooms to the north are some attribute boosting barrels. Several Dark dwarf grunts and a Dark dwarf pounder and/or Dark dwarf berserker or two are here.
5. Mess Hall and Kitchen[]
This mess hall and kitchen serve the compound. Food can be found on the table, and some attribute boosting barrels stand in the kitchen.
6. Bunk Rooms[]
The hallway in the bunk area for the pounders and berserkers is trapped by a Rock blast spell mounted in the far wall. The spell is triggered when an intruder steps on certain special floor tiles. All the dwarves are immune to earth magic and therefore unaffected by the spell. The bunk rooms themselves contain the dwarves' possessions (generally mid-grade items and gold) in trapped chests by their beds. The chest at (B) contains the Ring of planes. Each room contains one to three Dark dwarf pounders and/or Dark dwarf berserkers.
