Dain Fasoltssen is a character mentioned in Might and Magic IX.
In 238 A.C., Hridmir Strawhands, Jarl of Thjorgard, went to Thronheim to meet his prospective bride for the first time, but he got into an argument with her older brother Hafgrim over a board game and strangled him to death. Dain, Hafgrim's father, demanded that Hridmir should pay a weregild of 2,000 pounds of elemental thjorad, and invaded Thjorgard when Hridmir refused.
He sieged Thjorgard for 30 days, until he finally broke through the walls, forcing Hridmir to flee. Dain began to loot Thjorgard, but two days later, Hridmir's sister Oda chased him back to Thronheim and laid siege to the city. Eventually, Dain had to pay Oda to raise the siege.
Three more wars were fought between Thjorgard and Thronheim, during which Thronheim was razed at least twice, until Dain's grandson Leip forced Thjorgard to sign a peace treaty, requiring a yearly donation of 1,000 pounds of elemental thjorad to Thronheim.
