"Ordwald. I find the name distasteful. This old man has held rich Nighon lands given to him by a much greater father. He has squandered his time and done little to earn his stature. I have stood in his shadow and by his borders too long. His lands will be mine."
—Mutare
Culling the Weak is the first scenario of the Dragon's Blood campaign in Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade.
Walkthrough[]
Crush your enemies, but be careful not lose Mutare. Mutare will be limited to level ten, but will transfer to the next scenario. Gain the Charm of Mana from the Seer's Hut and carry it into the next scenario to access a bonus area.OffBck
Mutare is an Overlord, who remained relatively calm and civil in Nighon. However, like other creatures in Nighon, Mutare seeks to realm the dark underworld. Last week, her neighbor, Ordwald, has disappeared, giving her a chance to claim his lands, but other lords, Caomham and Preuet, have their sight on those lands as well, even managing to capture some of Ordwald's castles. Mutare starts with a single Dungeon town and has to defeat all other four opponents, who are scattered in the tunnels.
Other towns have revolted and proclaimed neutrality. Knowing Ordwald would deal with this situation head-on, Mutare sends her Master of Scouts to learn where Ordwald is, while having General Miah secure her lands, should Ordwald attack. General Miah manages to spare some troops for Mutare, giving her some minotaurs and manticore in the towns she has captured. Should Mutare attack the red dragons in the middle of the map (to gain some speed in taking the other lords down), she receives 2000 gold, 5 crystals and 5 gems.
At any rate, once Mutare has defeated every last opponent, she receives a report that Ordwald has been spotted.
Towns[]
Dungeon x12: Dead Timber, Harpy's Rock, Death Kiss, Sinkhole
Strategy[]
Due to quite many Dungeon towns in the area, Mutare should speed up in building her castle and attack the neighboring towns, then have a couple of heroes guarding them. If the enemy is too difficult to handle, Mutare will have to return back for reinforcements and defeat them. The heroes are limited to level 10, though only Mutare will transfer to next scenario.
There is a Seer's Hut near Sinkhole, a Dungeon below Death Kiss, Mutare's castle. Giving the seer 13 sulfur, 13 gems and 17 crystal will cause Mutare to receive a Charm of Mana, an artifact that can be used as a bonus for next scenario.
