The Church of the Sun was a religous order that existed on Enroth. It was founded on Karigor, but had temples in every major area on the planet. The church was ruled by the nine members of the High Council of the Sun, each of which wore a sun cloak to show their rank.
From 870 AS, Taledon X took on the role as Divine High Priest and High Holy Conduit. Due to bad luck brought on by Taledon's Helm, a powerful magical artifact, Taledon X was killed by a runaway peasant's wagon while crossing the street in Steadwick in 881 AS.
The church was famous for healing the sick, comforting the needy, and otherwise helping the poorer members of society. But over time, they grew rich, powerful, and prideful, and launched an attack on their enemies in the evil Church of the Moon. The two orders fought the longest war in Enroth's history.
During the War of Dove and Crow, the First Temple of the Sun was burned down, and the holy altar was melted. The altar's metal was incorporated into the shield Eclipse, which was carried by the priest Derico during his final deciding campaign of the war. The priest Camien Thryce later carried the shield in a crusade against the Necromancers' Guild in Shadowspire, but it was lost when Thryce was struck down by a nosferatu in the final battle.
In their quest to create a perfect priest-king, the priests created Arthur, a magical crown that would heighten the wearer's natural abilities - but also increased his pride. In 1073 AS, it caused Leopold VII to start another war against the Church of the Moon, grinding both churches into poverty, and both churches lost most of their might by 1083 AS. However, the Church of the Sun still had a presence on Jadame.
