The bone dragon is a fourth-level creature of the Necropolis in Heroes of Might and Magic IV.

When a bone dragon attacks, the sight is so fearsome most enemies flee in terror. Also, a bone dragon's skeletal body improves its defense against ranged attacks.OffBck

Comments[]

Bone dragons have fairly high damage and HP ratings, and also cast fear on their opponents (the struck unit can't retaliate and is forced to move away, unless it's immune to fear or there's nowhere to retreat).

Bone dragons are fearsome instruments of death, statistically one of the strongest creatures in the game. Their skeletal ability grants them 60 ranged defense, so you don't have to worry about ranged attackers, not even titans. The fear ability gives them a non-retaliation attack in most cases (it doesn't work on elementals, mechanical, undead, berserkers etc.) and there is one combo that can be used. If you cast first strike on your bone dragons, every incoming enemy melee attack (as long as the first strike is successful) will end up by your enemy runing away in fear, and they won't attack at all.

Abilities[]

Flying
Flying allows this creature to fly over obstacles, creatures, heroes, and castle walls.
Undead
Undead creatures are not affected by morale, or by spells and abilities that only work on living creatures. Some spells and artifacts (such as Holy Water) have special effects on Undead creatures. Undead creatures, however, give an additional -2 morale penalty to all non-Death creatures.
Skeletal
Skeletal increases this creature's Ranged Defense by 100%.
Fear
Fear prevents the opponent from retaliating. Anyone struck by fear runs away a short distance.
