The blacksmith is a type of building in Heroes of Might and Magic series.

The blacksmith provides the hero some additional equipment.

Heroes I[]

While the blacksmith exists within the Farm town, its purpose is producing pikemen.

Heroes II[]

While the blacksmith exists within the Knight town, its purpose is producing pikemen. It can be upgraded to produce veteran pikemen.

Heroes III[]

The blacksmith in Heroes III provides the hero war machines for battle, depending on the type of the town. The exception to this is Stronghold faction, which can also build a ballista yard to buy ballistae. It costs 5 wood and 1000 gold.

The adventure map object that sells all war machines is the war machine factory.

The war machines available in towns are as follows:

Heroes IV[]

In Heroes IV the blacksmith is named differently inside the towns, but retains the same name as an adventure object. The blacksmiths provide low-value artifacts, ideal for a starting hero; though the offered items vary between factions, it always provides potions of immortality and restoration.

The adventure map object, the war machine factory, sells all war machines at their discounted price.
