The Barbarian is both a faction and a class of hero in Heroes of Might and Magic II.
Faction[]
The Barbarian faction is based on the Plains faction from Heroes of Might and Magic I, using the same creatures. The Barbarian faction generally have slow, sturdy fighters.
The Coliseum building grants defenders +2 morale.

The Barbarian is the namesake class of the Barbarian faction. Barbarians are Might heroes, and start with 3 attack and 1 each of defense, spellpower, and knowledge, and the skill advanced Pathfinding.
Skills[]
- Primary skill When levelling up below level ten, the Barbarian has a 55% chance to increase attack, a 35% chance to increase defense, and a 5% chance each to increase spellpower and Knowledge. At level ten and beyond, it's 30% each for attack and defense and 20% for spellpower and knowledge.
- Secondary skills: The Barbarian is most likely to learn Pathfinding and Scouting, followed by Archery, Ballistics, Leadership, Logistics, and Navigation, followed by Diplomacy, Estates, and Luck, and least likely to learn Eagle Eye, Mysticism, and Wisdom. The Barbarian cannot learn Necromancy.
