The assassin is a Dungeon creature from Might & Magic: Heroes VI. Its upgraded version is the shade.

An Assassin is like the shadow of Malassa. As a Sylvan Elf is impossible to spot in the forest, an Assassin is invisible underground. He reveals himself only when he strikes. Usually wearing black clothes, an Assassin's favorite weapon is a pair of sharp and serrated daggers.OffBck

As Disciples of Malassa, the Dungeon Creatures are blessed with 10% Darkness damage resistance, and cursed with a 10% vulnerability to light damage. Healing spells from the Light School damage enemy Dungeon Creatures.OffBck

If the Assassin does not attack for 2 turns, it will become invisible. When the Assassin is invisible, it cannot be seen by the enemy Hero or creatures. Attacking, being adjacent to an enemy creature stack, or receiving indirect damage will dispel Shadow Cloak. The Assassin will attack adjacent enemy creature automatically.OffBck
Heroes VI Backstab Icon Backstab
Attacking an enemy creature stack while invisible allows the Assassin to deal an extra 20% damage and avoid all retaliation. Backstabbing immediately dispels Shadow Cloak.OffBck
