The '''Ancient universe''' refers to the original continuity of the ''[[Might and Magic]]'' series. Up until the 1997 release of ''[[Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty]]'', all official media in the series overtly took place in this canonical setting.

The original universe was introduced in ''[[Might and Magic: Secret of the Inner Sanctum]]''. The most recent official entry in the canon was ''[[Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Winds of War]]''. The setting has since been withdrawn by [[Ubisoft]], the holders of the brand, in favour of the [[Ubisoft continuity]], and is unlikely to be utilised in their future projects. However, some unreleased projects are planned to continue incorporating its setting, such as ''[[Heroes of Might and Magic Online]]''.
