"Another set her eyes on the Sword of Frost, but neither did she want to destroy it or keep it from being found. Kija, the wife of the brutal Barbarian King Kilgor, came to possess this dangerous blade. More than ever, Tarnum had to succeed."

A New Enemy is the third scenario in The Sword of Frost, the eighth part of Heroes Chronicles.

Tarnum must defeat the Vori Elves guarding the land bridge to the northern glaciers, but a new enemy has joined the search for the Sword of Frost. All of Tarnum's skills, spells, and experience will transfer to the next scenario along with his best Captain.OffBck

While following Gelu, Tarnum learned that there was a group of barbarians nearby as well. Tarnum hoped to build an allliance with them, but learned from a messenger that Kija, the third wife of Kilgor, was there to bring her husband the Sword of Frost, so that her sons would be named his heirs. The messenger told Tarnum that if he got in the way, he'd be tortured. Tarnum broke the messenger's nose and arm and sent him back, telling him to inform Kija that he would do what he wanted.

Kija declared war on Tarnum, which meant that he now had two enemies in the north, neither of which he wanted to kill - he didn't want to slay his own people, and he had grown to love the elves as well.

Kilkik suggested that to strike at Gelu, they should capture someone close to him. Tarnum hoped that if they did, Gelu might slow down on his march towards the sword, and he might be put off guard and start to make mistakes as well.

After clearing the Vori elves from his path, Tarnum could follow Gelu.

Walkthrough[]

Tarnum has a Dungeon in the southwestern corner. The brown player has two Strongholds, one in the northwestern corner and one in the southeastern, while the blue player has a Rampart in the northeastern part of the map.

To reach his foes, Tarnum must go north, past a neutral stack of gold dragons. After taking the first Stronghold, he can go through the two-way monolith to take the second Stronghold, finishing off the brown player.

To open the quest guard leading to the Rampart, Tarnum must bring the Celestial Necklace of Bliss, which can be found next to the Dungeon, guarded by war unicorns. Note that the Rampart will present a greater challenge than the Strongholds, so he should build up his forces before attacking.

Strategy[]

While Tarnum will control two Strongholds before his final fight, neither can build creatures above fourth tier, while the Dungeon can build all tiers, allowing him to bring black dragons to the final fight.
